VALVE Maintenance

  • Gate Valve
  • Globe Valve
  • Check Valve
  • Ball Valve
  • Butterfly Valve

How to avoid problems

  • The ball should be completely open or fully closed when transporting and storing ball valves.

  • Ends that are flange or welded should be secured.

  • When the valve is mounted in the line, the end safety should be withdrawn.

  • Lifting lugs can be used for handling valves.

  • If there will be a post-weld heat treatment for welded-end valves, let FTH Tubes and Valves know (transition pups may be necessary to avoid damages to seals).

  • Before opening or closing the valve, flush and clean the line.

  • Check the line and/or the valve body for any remaining line-testing oil.

  • To avoid internal corrosion, do not leave the valve body filled with salt water.

  • Valves can be left partly open for the shortest period of time available during line checking.

  • Just on-off operation can be performed with standard ball valves. The seats may be damaged by throttling operation (using the valve with the ball partially open).

  • When choosing fabrics for O-rings and seat inserts, make sure to remember the real service conditions.

  • For valves used in high-pressure gas operation, often specify anti-explosive decompression content.

  • To raise the valve, do not use the actuator.

Warranty Clause

Warning: FTH Tubes and Valves will not accept claims for damages due to poor handling on site and/or for valves service conditions different from the one for which they have been manufactured and sold by FTH Tubes and Valves

In any case in which
FTH Tubes and Valves is not made aware of the actual use of the valves (e.g. valves ordered by a third party, such as a stockiest) it is responsibility of the third party and/or of the user to verify the suitability of the valve materials and design for the medium and services conditions in which the valves will be used.
